re: #56 Blind Frog Belly White

We’re having a discussion in the Greyhound group on FB, about people who let their dogs run offleash, and then when they come bounding up to our dogs, get offended when we pull our dogs back or verbally object.

Everyone says “Don’t worry! He’s friendly!”, but you know, I don’t know you. I don’t know whether you’re Cesar fucking Millan, or some schmo who doesn’t know shit about dogs. So, I don’t know whether you have any real basis for knowing whether your dog will attack my dog or not. I don’t know you, and I don’t know your dog.

At all.

And - and here’s the point - you don’t know me or my dog, either.

This wouldn’t apply to greyhounds, but once I was ‘running’ on a track, and a woman let her little dog off its leash (which she carried) and when she noticed my annoyance, she called the little guy, who ignored her. Next time I was passing her, I said, ‘That’s what the leash is for.’ She got all defensive, and made fun of me for being afraid of her cute little dog. I said, ‘He’s a fucking tripping hazard!’ and went into detail about what one trip could do to me. She put the leash on it, and left.

I no longer fear one trip the way I did a couple of years ago. We apologized to each other when she recognized me a month or two later. I still carry pepper spray. People yell at me whenever I get it out.
