My prediction is as follows: “Moderate” Repubs are gonna argue aloud that, as badly as they want the gov’t reopened and to get federal workers back to earning a living, they cannot support a bill that doesn’t provide for border security, which is why they won’t vote on cloture for the Dem bill. Mitch is likely figuring that this is the GOP’s best chance to firmly jam that wedge in the DNC ranks, declaring that if you support Schumer’s bill, then you’re opposed to border security and will be judged as such by voters next year.
