4. Average Americans will get upset that ‘everything is so polarised’, ‘both sides are fighting’, and believe that the truth lies somewhere between the facts and the made-up rant.

This.

This is something I have tried over and over to get across to my niece’s husband. He puts the blame for our current political situation on “both sides.” “Both sides” need to stop fighting and get down to business. I keep explaining that it’s only one side that’s fighting, the other side is trying desperately to have a rational conversation.it just doesn’t seem to sink in. And this “polarization” won’t stop, even if Rush goes away, until people are able to acknowledge the real issue, that one “side” in the “debate” has jumped the shark. The “Red Scare” didn’t stop until enough Americans faced up to the fact that McCarthy was not rational, and thousands of lives were destroyed before the witch hunt ended.
