I am visually impaired and I still watch movies with a little aid. But, the gift was still a gaffe but not for that reason.

He has issues with the other eye too, related to reading small print, but I don’t think that would affect movie watching. Besides, he’ll probably give it away like the GW bomber jacket, he just can’t score the good gifts like Tony Blair did.
My opinion is that his acting protocol gal was clueless about gifting, and BHO needs to find a good, permanent person to fill that post.
