Furthermore, what happens to any of these forums - Kos and the like - when their founder/creator stops maintaining them, through death, incapacitation, or something else? For things to persist, in the same way that Breitbart persisted (or metastasised) after his death, it needs to take on a life separate from a single person.

I’m not big on online communities. I don’t actually belong to any other than this one. I’ve always been very selective and very cautious about online interactions. But I like this one. It has changed a lot over the decade I’ve been here, and there are people who have gone that I miss, and people who have gone that were completely worthless, and the full spectrum in between. But I realise that so much of how I think and how I interact with world events is shaped by this very small online community and the people here.

In some ways, I wish that something like this would become larger, and a model for online communities everywhere, and even a model for how world events are discussed and disseminated. The world would be a better place.

Our first move should be to wrap Charles in 4 layers of bubble wrap.
