Anyone who buys that is dumber than a bag of hammers. It’s a purely political pivot that belies his true nature and intentions.

He’s doing something his old man would never do, in the interest of furthering his ambitions, namely saying what he thinks people outside of the Paulian ranks want to hear. Thing is, I don’t imagine he’ll suffer any blowback for it.
