If it’s less than 5-6 hours, I figure driving is as efficient as flying, since I’m 2 hours from a nearby major airport. I can get Amtrak to Chicago (but not St. Louis) easily. Anything more, I have to fly, simply because Amtrak lines are so convoluted.

I’m thinking about taking a train trip across some scenery this summer, though.

Denver to SF is gorgeous. I’ve posted some photos from that route in the past.

The Coast Starlight, Empire Builder, and Southwest Chief are all on the to-do list at some point.
