I have several co-workers who are here on H1B Visas, and were working toward getting their permanent residency status followed by path to citizenship. Most are from SE Asian countries, with a few from India and from north Africa. Almost to a person, they are terrified of what Trump is doing here, because of his edicts on trade, and current and former statements on immigration. They are literally fearing the other shoe dropping when they will have their work visas revoked by the stroke of a pen and deported. They are (at least for now) legal immigrants, but don’t have the advantage of being white.

Add to this the large numbers of foreign students at our universities; same deal.
