There is now such click-bait-ness to the English word “fake” that people are just throwing it out there.

Spotify is just selling audio without having to pay artists who would be well enough known to demand a royalty payment. It’s easy for any production company to simply higher musicians with basic skills to come in and make recordings, pay an hourly sum (or daily), and never have to worry about paying future royalties. Spotify sells these songs with names attached to them that are not artist names.

That’s the claim, anyway.

Spotify denies it.

I get why musicians would be unhappy. But as a listener…does it matter? Are the tunes worth listening to? Because as a casual music person, that would be what I cared about.
