Very true, and despite this, Barcelona is definitely on the list because it is such a beautiful, liberal, creative city. A true gem on the Mediterranean.

An old acquaintance of mine who has lived in Madrid since the 1970’s visited here several months ago. She said cars with Madrid stickers (license plates?) were subject to damage if parked in Barcelona. So being liberal might not extend to their attitude to fellow Spaniards.
