The Amiga was a multi-processor computer. The graphics chip were very advanced for the time and could be programmed.

The graphics output chip could be programmed to change the clock rate on output. That meant that for a single scan line one could change the clock, i.e., change the horizontal resolution.

That was unheard of in low-cost graphics at the time.
