My view is that most of the Science Fiction themes were already introduced to the American public in the 1960’s TV series, or maybe the early 70’s if you want to include concepts as found in the Six Million Dollar Man.

Since then American TV has been mostly reworking old material. Oh, there are a few new ideas thrown out here or there every decade, but the innovations in stories are surprisingly few.

You are certainly forgetting about such visionary 80s programming as Manimal and Automan…
