A simple way to define the term. Type “meme” into Google image search.

Almost all are a single image untouched with white outlined type over it.

For clarity, I am not putting down meme’s…often they are fun.

I just want people to appreciate the work Photoshoppers do to make a really great fun, crazy, bizarre image.

Every popular meme I’m seeing on my TLs right now are much more complex and funny than that.
The Nysync “It’s Gonna Be May” one
The OC Chopper guys multi-panel one
The SpongeBob being tired one
The jealous girlfriend stock image one still making the rounds
Etc…
