I’m guessing no, and not because of “emotional attachment to personal cars.”

Economics. No company is going to invest in the vast scale of solar electric charging stations required in the vast rural areas of the world (where you still need people to live to do things like grow food and the businesses that support that). Without using solar, you’re stuck using the electric grid (then you have to use coal, nuclear, natural gas, &c)

No business is going to invest in rural public transportation infrastructure like busses, trains, taxis, &c.

Unless there is a massive improvement in EV battery technology, I could not get to Scottsbluff and back (a town of 14,000 people).

How far is that?
