re: #305 ziggyelman

… I’m going to be on painkillers and couch-surfing for 48-72 hours after that and I was hoping you could give me some good movies to watch while I’m recovering. …

Some of my fav’s:
The Sandlot - about young boys who like baseball, growing up
A League of Their Own - young women who like baseball, growing up
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Once Upon a Time in the West
Patton
Doctor Zhivago
Lonesome Dove
The Right Stuff - The original US Mercury 7 astronauts

Sword of Gideon
- Chronicles a Mossad team hand picked to hunt down the terrorists involved in the 1972 Munich Olympic massacre of Israeli athletes. Based on the book Vengeance (Munich is a recent remake)
The Crossing - A dramatization of George Washington’s perilous gamble of crossing the Delaware River and attacking the British forces at Trenton. (TV - 2000)
Ascent of Man - An account of man’s development through his scientific and technological achievements; labor-of-love documentary by Jacob Bronowski; opening scene is Mesopotamia (Iraq), where (he says) agriculture, civilization and wars (as organized theft) began
Alien - one of the scariest movies I’ve seen
Idiocracy - very funny; also very scary
GATTACA
