The junk ideas always existed beside mainstream thought, and really got a boost during the pop culture explosion of the ’60s—’70s. One of the first megaphones for irrational BS kicked in when early cable TV technology suddenly created low-cost channels that were starved for content. The Internet reinforced it by allowing no-cost 2 way amplification.

The Beatles had a couple good songs, but the shit they helped deploy with their Maharishi is still poisoning our neuralstream.

Heh. You’re the first person I’ve seen criticize the Beatles for the Maharishi and his poisoning.

I understand, but I think the media and fashion helped drive that side of things too. I can’t remember all of that period, but I think some of the Beatles left the Maharishi with less than glowing memories.

It was over before it became a thing, but the thing lasted.
