Our families are from the same part of PA. Really honestly makes me sad seeing how many people have fallen for this con man. What’s been killing me is I honestly don’t know how my mom’s dad would have responded to Trump. Staunch Democrat but he hated Obama (he died a couple weeks before Obama officially became President), hated NAFTA, and was never too fond of the Clintons. I like to think he would have seen Trump for the con man he was but he was also a sentimental type and I’m afraid he would have loved that Melania was from his parents’ home country and ignored Trump’s fucked upness. Then again, he always did tell my brothers and I about greed so maybe he would have but that’s been killing me to think about. I never would have stopped loving him if he had supported Trump but I won’t lie, I would have lost respect.

I often wonder the same thing. My dad (and mom) were staunch democrats. That said, they grew up in a different era (my dad was born in 1907) and when I was in college I was friends with a black girl and my dad was none too happy. I couldn’t really tell if it was that she was black or that she lived in a pretty bad part of Chicago, but he was really, really unhappy when we would hang out.

I have wondered about this several times over the years. Would he have been brainwashed by Fox News? How would he have taken to an Obama or H. Clinton presidency? Honestly, I am glad I never had to find out.
