Not a good idea relying on a translated paraphrase of what was said, with no context.

What this is about is the report that Macron commissioned Benjamin Stora to write. Stora himself said: “La repentance est un piège politique, tendu par une partie de l’extrême-droite française” (Repentence is a political trap, held out by a part of the French extreme right).
