This cost them a lot more than replacing the part would have. It’s a $300 part and they’re now out $1,300 instead.

Among other things, I know they repair iPhones with third party, non-Apple approved parts. So not only can they bork your iPhone, they also void any warranty coverage you had with Apple in the process.
