The Catholic Church in Germany has come out in opposition to “forest burials” in which one’s ashes are buried under trees, they say it is a reversion to “pagan practices”.
Because nothing says “modern religion” like embalming and sealing someone in a lead-lined box.
See, that’s the issue with the modern Catholic Church, they’re not acting in the spirit of their ideological ancestors who saw an opportunity in co-opting/rebranding pagan religious observances/practices as Christian ones in order to forcibly convert the pagans.
