The construction industry tanked like it never had before (since WWII).Something like that takes time to heal.
The perception is that the industry is on the mend, but very slow and tedius. I’ve noticed design and bid work picking up in the high end in Hawaii but good times are not really around the corner. If anything, Hawaii weathered this recession better than it usually does, it typically gets hit more extreme than the rest of the mainland.
Other parts of the country are in a deep hole and it will be a long time before they’re out.
