I tell you the worst is when they talk down to people though. Oh you don’t know everything there is about guns, so you’re a stupid libtard who can’t talk about sensible gun laws because you don’t know every last goddamned thing about guns. Oh, you’er black, don’t you know that the Democrats were once a racist party because ya know political reality of 150 years ago means everything but the fact that Lee Atwater and the Southern Strategy means nothing. Or the newly out of the closet Jim Hoft insisting that it was a conservative court that ruled in favor of same sex marriage even though the courts conservatives complained about the decision.

They have their subculture’s beliefs, and will say and believe anything it takes to maintain those beliefs. They’re lying to themselves as much at they’re lying to the rest of us.

Most people aren’t rational at all. They just rationalize and lie to themselves and others in order to feel like they’re good and smart people without being good and smart people.
