I think I said this before, If one can’t “assimilate” without special concessions being granted, go to a religious school.

Do you seriously think one concession doesn’t lead to asking for another one? This is not a matter of Sharia law crap, it is just a matter of doing what everyone else has done until you chose to live in this society.

I judge ‘concessions’ based on how disruptive they are to the community. The girls wearing scarves was no problem to anyone. Big shrug.

As for ‘one concession leading to asking for another one’, it didn’t, not at all. The Afghani parents had exactly one need from the school, which was that their daughters be allowed to wear scarves and long sleeves and sweatpants under their gym clothes.

We’d been doing this for years. It worked fine. No one’s toes or rights were being stepped on.
