Republicans are heavily into both the telling and swallowing of their lies. Creationism is the perfect example. Many Republicans know this is complete bullshit, but they will happily propagate the lies to piss off liberals. Anyone who accepts these blatant lies is a fellow tribe member, so these also function as wingnut territory markers.
