Dems are forcing these doomed votes — to subpoena Mulvaney, etc — for a reason.

The reason:

If they fail to get witnesses later, they will have put the most vulnerable GOP senators (Collins, etc) on the record opposing testimony from material witnesses.#ImpeachmentTrial
