Long story short: Drunk off-duty cop sees two hispanic brothers trying to stop a drunk dude from attacking a woman, the cop wades in, starts hitting people, and finally shoots both brothers, killing one of them. The cops don’t let the dying man’s wife stay in the ambulance with him, so she’s not there when he dies. Unless there’s a version of the story that’s wildly different that the police will present, this is just fucking awful.

The family says Coronado was following “conflicting city policies” when he shot the brothers, “one policy requiring him to carry a firearm and intervene in all conflicts, and another policy prohibiting him from carrying his firearm and intervening after drinking.”
