Moreover, natural gas prices have dropped so far that it makes sense to consider switching from home heating oil to natural gas; far cheaper and fewer headaches about maintaining supplies. And don’t think for a moment that building managers aren’t thinking the same thing - particularly in the Northeast where home heating oil is most used.
The end result could be a significant improvement in air quality without additional regulations (though in NYC, there’s a move afoot to phase out the dirtiest forms of heating oil). That action may get superseded by switching away from heating oil altogether.
