Everything is going to be rejected by the idiot party base. They hate Obama so they’re not going to give him a damned thing, no matter what it does to this country.

As far as they’re concerned the only thing they’d accept is Barack Obama signing on to the most extreme RWNJ agenda then immediately resigning and sending himself to Gitmo.

In years past, the party would have just ignored the base long enough to get a bill passed, then made excuses come election time, because they know the base won’t abandon them if it means letting Dems win.

Now? In the wake of Citizens United, all it takes to keep the party in line is to threaten them with a primary. Even if there’s little chance they’d lose, just the cost in money and political capital necessary to fend off a challenger means the Dems start with an advantage.
