Five or so years from now, the wingnuts are going to get around to noticing that the 13th amendment does not prohibit slavery completely. It can be imposed as a punishment for crimes.

The prison-industrial complex is already taking significant steps along these lines.

Love how the GOP rails against entitlements, but says nothing about the “free” everything prisoner’s get. It’s really the largest welfare/health program out there. And the push to privatize the whole operation is significant.

One can see how it can turn into free labor once someone starts focusing on moar profits or it for some reason becomes unprofitable.
