re: #645 Dragon_Lady

Congratulations on working again! I applied for a part time job as a cashier at a business right around the corner from where we live, I won’t know for 2 weeks or so but it would be a cool way to get to work! A 2 minute walk, I could go for that! :-)

This past Monday, I got a call from a chain supermarket who has a store up here in my community in the Rocky Mountains. I applied there 6 months ago. They were checking if I was still looking for a job, they may have an opening for a checker.

I’m suppose to call them back tomorrow, Thursday. It’s only a part time job, 20 hours a week, but I was told that there is always more hours that can be picked up. It’s actually way over minimum wage.

The girlfriend and I had talked about having me hold out this time for a full time programming job, but I cannot see passing this up, it would take care of my part of the bills, it’s only three miles from the house, wouldn’t have to worry much about going down hill to Denver in bad weather, and it doesn’t really get in the way of continuing to look for programming work.

There is no benefits, no health insurance, it’s part time, but if they offer it to me, I’m going to take it. It’s better than sitting around the house. I prefer keeping busy.

I did have 6 hours of contract programming work this for my only client, Kaiser, that helps at the end of the month, bills are due.
