re: #661 Jadespring
How big was the bunch? I sell and will be selling dandelion greens for about 25 bucks a pound. Micro-green versions go for about 35 a pound.
Sounds awful I know. It’s dandelions! But they’re considered a ‘specialty’ and premium and as a grower who likes to eat as well if people and restaurants will pay that much for them I will gladly help them out. Dandelion green production is a labor intensive as any other salad production and it’s tricky to get them at the precise time where they’re the most edible. They get really bitter if you leave them too long so that means lots of successive seedings to ensure a constant supply.
I’m only a few blocks away from the store and probably drove past over $1,000 worth of dandelions on the way to the store. I’m guilty too, I don’t know how many time this fall I bought apples at the store only to remember that the trees across the street from me a filled with them. It happens.
