I once read a Foreign Affairs article that suggested we amend the constitution and create a non-partisan board to deal with foreign policy. I don’t think the writer really thought that could or should happen, but the point was there should be a way to take the partisanship out of foreign policy. I think there is much truth to this, unrealistic as it may be. Many of us first consider whether an action or war is liberal and conservative and then decide where we stand. I’m sure this is in large part due to the Vietnam War and the political fights surrounding that.
