Oh, I don’t know. If someone is an asshole in the workplace, it’s the job of management to do or say something. That’s part of management’s function - to assist workplace harmony by controlling or weeding out assholes.

Something’s funny about this story. I don’t think even the most namby-pamby PC unicorn-riding teacher would start something out of nothing and ask kids to go home just for wearing Old Navy T-shirts. This sounds like a whole lot of spin and a whole lot of crap. It sounds, frankly, like two ethnic groups of kids getting into a pissing match at school, and the jawing starting to become nationalistic, and the teacher picking one group, possibly the wrong group, and ending the situation. Then Johnny goes home to his parents and tells them that the teacher sent him home for wearing a flag shirt. Then some reporter comes and asks Anita, who is 15 and has no clear memory of anything beyond the latest Timberlake CD or whatever, and who thus responds with some vague recollection of the white kids at school getting all up in the Mexican kids’ faces about something nationalistic. And in the current climate of immigration and nationalistic sensitivity, someone decides it’ll make a story.
