Mrs. Fish and I were just discussing how randomly weird it must be for foreigners to the Midwest to hear the tornado siren tests that happen on the first Wednesday of the month:

“Is that … an air raid siren?”
“No, it’s a tornado siren.”
“TORNADOES?! Where’s the basement? Have you got emergency supplies? ARE WE GONNA DIE?!?!?”
“No, it’s Wednesday.”
