As I recall, the general academic consensus is that the Noah’s Ark story is based around some actual severe flooding that took place in the Middle East in Biblical times but what the facts surrounding what really happened are largely unknown, though it’s probably not very likely one guy managed to build an ark and get two of every animal on it.
