That $450 an hour equates to $900k a year for a salaried employee (assume 2000 hours). That’s not a bad deal for total compensation for a top executive.
No. It isn’t.
And if you’re a company like Apple, the starting salary is much higher.
I do foresee one way these companies will avoid that - turning low wage workers into contract workers, outsourcing, etc., all so that they can create a higher base wage to compute the CEO wages. They would also get to minimize their costs otherwise by reducing benefits costs as well.
No easy answers, but the biggest problem is that we’ve tied health benefits to employment. That keeps a lot of people stuck in jobs with no movement.
