I’m not privy to such things, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised to learn that there are some smoky, back-room discussions going on within the GOP leadership on how to safely purge these Tea Party assclowns from the GOP while minimizing the damage from doing so.

Anyone have any ideas as to how they could do that without the whole party suffering nuclear meltdown? It seems that it is such a problem that the reasonable Republicans* have their hands tied. There might be huge political upside for the first one to stand up and really go after the TeaParty, but sadly, no one seems to think it is worth any risk whatsoever. McCain could do it, but he even seems to toy with them to keep ‘em around.

*didn’t have enough time to try to figure out who might even be reasonable, since reason would dictate you gotta get them out of the party.
