That seems, to this layman and non-rocket scientist…..well, sort of unusual.

Nothing about this seems to make sense, not when there are reports that the Russian authorities told people living nearby to ingest iodine pills, which would suggest that whatever exploded included radioactive iodine 131.

Maybe they were testing something and had radioactive markers involved, but the odds we’ll know what it was are nonexistent. Odds are also high that it’s more serious than they’re letting on.
