Maybe he objects to the idea in the sense that that there are some ideas too horrific to be taken up/ argued for even if you purposely intend to give them up later on.

For example, single payer is a position you bring to the table to negotiate down from… forcing rape victims to undergo vaginal probing if they want an abortion… you shouldn’t even joke about/bring that to the table even if you do it while arguing in bad faith.

I suggested that it was an extreme position to “be negotiated down from” thinking that the law was being considered… once I was informed that it had indeed passed I admitted my error & retracted my statement. A minor detail the GDF omitted for obvious reasons.
