re: #666 Obdicut

Cordell isn’t a troll, just a rather bullheaded dude who wants to have the same argument repeatedly.

To pre-empt the argument:

Cordell, you need to ask yourself why you don’t think the Arab states are capable of meaningful political change, and why you think any sort of peace is achievable while the Arab states still intentionally inflame the situation between Palestine and Israel.

Because to me, assuming that the Arabs are simply a hopeless cause smacks of culturalism or racism.

That’s not the issue here. The issue here is that certain posters believe they are the sole arbiters of what is, and isn’t, “pro-Israel.” American Jew who supports J-Street, anti-Israel. American non-Jew who doesn’t support AIPAC’s foreign policy aims, anti-Israel.

Within Israel itself there is massive disagreement on fundamental issues such as settlements, the concept of land for peace, the barrier wall, withdrawal from the West Bank, the Gaza War. But if you’re in the United States and you share the same views that many in Israel hold, you’re labeled “anti-Israel” or if you’re not Jewish very possibly “anti-Semitic.”
