Remember those speakers we had in college? You know, those big ol’ steamer-trunk-sized wood boxes that weighed more than your girlfriend? Yeah, we loved those thumpers.

Compare those old paper-coned behemoths to a modern speaker system. Man, it knocks me out to hear all that clear sound coming out of a speaker that I can cover with a paper-back book.

Yah, I too am in audio changeover mode, my big old (post-)college speakers are shredded, I could rebuild them - but will probably trash them, go for a newfangled 5.1 with a subwoofer neighbors can hear and feel two blocks away, but the whole system won’t have nearly the fidelity of the old tech, we live in an iPod world.
