Early February? Well, that is going to mess with the primaries.

That’s the point. The Democrats intend to extend the debt ceiling for as long as possible, and putting it up against the primaries would increase pressure on GOP to not play around with it again, since they’d done so well this round.

The GOP leadership might take that deal, if only to bludgeon the TP into line - that if they want to try this nonsense again, the leadership will go off on them.

But the way I’m reading how this framework is coming together is that they’re going to do just enough to get the so-called 20 GOP moderates cover so that they could vote on a clean bill in the House once Boehner drops the Hastert rule and gets it through with Democratic party support.

In other words, everything is contingent on Boehner doing what he needs to bring this to a floor vote.
