Wow. Tough talk for a guy who retired rather than face a court martial.

As I understand it, he was given the choice of quietly retiring and keeping his pension or facing a court-martial and possibly doing jail time in addition to forefeiting all benefits. And that he was “encouraged” to retire to save the Army the embarrassment of court-martialing him.
