re: #33 Anymouse

Code Pink’s position against neo-con militarism is right in line with a great majority of Gold Star Families. Gold Star Families are a group that absolutely no one aspires to join.

Code Pink protesting Mr. Trump’s inauguration at a memorial honouring war dead, whether or not one considers that to be a war-of-choice, is going to alienate a great number of active duty, dependants, veterans, and Gold Star Families: Those are the very people Mr. Trump insulted. They are potential allies of Code Pink (and the left in general), so driving them away doesn’t seem like a really smart thing for them to do.

It might get them in the press, but that press will be universally negative. If the press (other than people like Jim Hoft) does report on it, it will infuriate those very people that would argue against wars-of-choice: Those who already had to fight in them, those who now serve who don’t want to fight in them, and the families of the dead.

Not seeing an upside for Code Pink. I understand that they go in for outrageous protests sometimes, because getting attention for a cause can be hard. I don’t see a lot of difference here between Code Pink and the Westboro Baptist Church protesting military and veteran funerals (except Code Pink is not motivated by religion). They have the right to do it (just as in my state I have the right to carry a weapon openly), but that doesn’t make that a good way to advance their cause.

In Code Pink’s case, it is a good way to make enemies of people who should be their natural allies.

Code Pink is the left wing version of Milo.
