There was once, before they became indoctrinated in identity religion and identity politics. You know, back when good Christians were Democrats. Before the Southern Strategy and the scourge that is the anti-abortion movement. They were racist shits back then, and I understand that, but at least they did have some kindness and compassion in the days of yore.

I don’t know if they called themselves Evangelicals or not, but there has always been a strain in this country that has wanted to use their Christianity to control, and there has generally always been a more liberal strain, the kind that thought it more important to take care of others.
