The French had a “final design”. The Australians rejected it as they have rejected all existing boats since this whole sorry mess started in 2007.

Now, once again, it’s back to the drawing board.

If you think putting US reactors in a UK designed sub is going to easy I would like to talk to you about some bridges I have to sell.

And what would be the point? The Rolls Royce reactor in the Astutes is perfectly OK. Why try to shoehorn the reactor from the much bigger Virginia class boats into the smaller Astutes?

It looks like a big fight about what defense contractor gets boatloads of money, so I just don’t care.
