The thing that pisses me off most though is the initial bullshit coverup that Torrance attempted. First pretending that the incident had nothing to do with the Dorner hunt, then flat out stating that the reason for the shooting was the officers thought Perdue was Doner. Then outright lying in stating that Perdue’s truck was heading straight for one of their cars, refusing to yield, and implying that he hit them in stating that the cars then collided.

Perdue’s truck has no front end damage at all, from the photos it’s pretty obvious he was taken out from the drivers side rear and spun sideways. Later the TPD admitted that the police deliberately initiated the collision. They had so much fucking contempt for the public and the truth that they thought for awhile that they could tell such a blatant lie and just see if it might fly.

I can almost find it in my heart to forgive the officers who were scared shitless at the scene, almost. But the department spokesperson and leadership who okayed such a thin, transparent, bullshit confabulation to try and reverse some of the blame onto Perdue, those people need to lose their jobs immediately. You simply shouldn’t be able to purposely abuse the public trust so egregiously and continue to be employed by the people, it’s antithetical to everything a democracy is supposed to be about.
