I do wish it had been someone more senior, more centrist to really force a discussion of drone use and the reductions in civil protections since 9/11.
But the who of it hardly changes the need for public and transparent discussions of these policies. What it seems has happened is the fear of the far right T.P has motivated far too many people to give this administration a blanket pass on civil liberties. A rather severe rise in executive power which used to be considered an important consideration just one President ago. These days not so much.

FISA, Patriot Act, Drones all need a full review. It’s long past time to sunset significant policies instead of endless near rubber stamp extensions.
