Reminds me of my two local papers who take new releases from local police/sheriff’s office and essentially reprint them with no original reporting or attempt to verify or question the release.

Learned that trick helping a race team PR staff. The head PR woman would write up a race report news release and put a stack of them in the media room at a race. Magazine and newspaper writers would pick them up and take them to work with. Within a few days I could read the exact wording in newspaper stories and a little later in the sports and racing magazines.

Cut and paste. even easier now with PDF documents. They don’t even need to type!
