Well, I’d take issue with these points:
1. Rod Dreher is far from stupid: which makes his simple-minded advocacy of simpleton theocracy as a the ideal model for society and government even worse: I think he knows better, but figures that his audience doesn’t.
2. Dreher would have hated living under Communism because of its specifically anti-religious ideology. Franco’s Spain or Czarist Russia are probably closer to his Ideal State (IIRC, he converted to some sort of Orthodoxy or other because his original Catholicism wasn’t authoritarian enough).

To be fair, I read that he converted to Orthodoxy because he was outraged by the Church’s handling of pedophile priests.
